I have a decramastic roof, roughly 44 years old and about the stage it needs replacing. House is 110 square metres. I've been struggling to get quotes, several companies I've called and said they'd call back and haven't or some I've emailed and haven't heard back. One company came almost straight away though, got me to do an asbestos test. It came back clear, and so they quoted $17k for 40mm zinacore corrugate longrun. Is that about what is average for these specifications? It's just I have nothing to compare it with

From memory we did our parents house of about 100 squares a couple of years ago for $25,000 and that included all the palaver of removing and disposing of Super 6 asbestos roofing material.

We got our rental property's roof replaced last year, paid around $14k inc GST. House area was around 100sqm, and new roof is 0.40mm Colorsteel.

Edit: We got 3 different quotes between 14k and 20k for similar type of roof.

Thanks for the replies, OK here's a supplementary question: Would you use anyone that is not in the Roofing Association Of New Zealand (RANZ)? I've mainly been focusing on contractors that are part of that because I want to be sure of a quality job but would you use anyone that is not in the RANZ and still feel like you're in safe hands?

Who did you use for the asbestos test, and how much was it? I have a decramastic roof also that I would like to replace in the next few years.

Question - if you go from decramastic to long run do you need a building consent?

is that including removing the old roof?

$10,600 for a 60sqm garage roof including the spouting from one company

$4,600 for just the roofing from another

.55mm colour steel, underlay and all fixings and flashing's, that was 2 years ago before covid. was a PITA getting anyone to quote on it as everyone was "so busy". no one bothers to put an out of office on saying it may take a few weeks to work through a quote or anything like that.

Yes, it includes removing the old roof. Well, hopefully I can get some more quotes before the one I have expires. If I don't I might just end up going with them because it's going to be a bit of a wait anyway for the work to be done and I don't want this whole process to drag on for too long.

oh also my quotes didn't include scaffolding or roof edge protection as it was provided by the builder.

Yes, I would. Membership of an association doesnt guarantee a good job. Though you may get some sort of warranty. No matter association or not it's not a bad idea to ask around and if possible find some previous clients.
