Looking at compact (I.e 2m long but 1.6 ish wide) spas, in the 6-8K range, with alpine Tibet and Galay rosa being obvious choices. Any thoughts or experience with the models or manufacturers?

I've got an Alpine Whistler spa which is about 5 years old now (the model is now discontinued). I'm not sure of the size off the top of my had but around 2x2 metres.

It's been faultless in operation and the cover is lasting well in the weather (some don't). The only thing I have found is that in the depths of Christchurch winter, the cost of heating becomes very noticeable on the power bill - so much so that for the past couple of years we've started switching it off from about mid June through to late August. The rest of the time we really don't notice the power cost.

The spa at my previous house sat on a layer of polystyrene about an inch thick, and I think that really helped keep the cost down. I wish I had laid polystyrene when the Alpine was craned into place.....

The Alpines have all the mod cons - LED lights, jets, a fountain, UV filtering and Ozone. Some come with stereos and WiFi controls. The filters are expensive at around $150/pair off the shelf, but they have a subscription service which knocks 30% off, which is worthwhile. You set the frequency of delivery. But you can make filters last a year or more if you regularly remove and clean them properly with the recommended cleaning agent. We use bugger all chlorine - maybe 1 to 1.5kg a year depending on usage (usually 3-4 times a week except dead of winter).

Just got a galaxy but slightly bigger. The sales process was good but the delivery side was frustrating.Delay after delay but they do have stock in the country now which is a good sign. We looked at Alpine, and all the other options. Was lucky that there was a pool at bbq factory to be able to view . I found this site was really helpful it’s a big investment so take your time researching
