American hi fi AHF-630

OK, so I've been mucking around with this head unit all day. I own a mazda 323 protege (99) or a mazda "crapbox" as it's commonly referred to.
Purchased a cheap Bluetooth head unit hoping from we all know where, and connected it up this morning, powered it on and it lit up like a Christmas tree! Powered it down to insulate the connected wires, and the 2 12v wires crossed and blew the damn thing! So, the warehouse being good on their return policy, allowed me to swap it out for another one. I was careful in the installation and used a wiring block instead. All wires are hooked up as they should, but there's nothing at all coming through. Checked the fuses, and they all seemed fine, but replaced them anyway. However, I still have nothing at all. Any suggestions for a solution? I'm considering taking it to an audio shop, but thought id try here first. Thanks in advance, guys!

I'm thinking that you didn't blow the original unit, but rather blew something in your car. Double check the fuses (usually a couple of fuse boxes - one in the engine bay and one in a footwell?)

If you shorted the Positive 12v to ground, a fuse should have blown.

Another thing to check is that you are grounded - usually the wiring harness isn't grounded - can you touch the radio to the chassis and see if it powers up?

In a Mazda the constant 12v will be fused in the engine bay labeled "dome" (same circuit as interior light) and the 12v ACC will be fused under the dash on the same circuit as the cigarette lighter. Does your interior light and cigarette lighter work?

Haha, spot on with the fuse. In my frantic troubleshoot, I seemed to have missed one. Noticed the light to show whether a door is open or not wasn't actually on, so checked the fuses again. All is going now. Thanks for the recommendation! And, as a side note, for a cheap head unit, it's pretty damn good! Thanks again

Some head units aren't grounded until the antennae lead is plugged in.
