One week special on hybrid style dual boot vi10.

richms: Ive tried using a similar device in the past and just found it so frustratingly slow to do anything on. Is there anything else coming out soon that is a similar formfactor but better specs? Like half way between that and a surface? 2 gigs of ram doesnt even sound like enough for a few tabs of browsing to be honest.

Also can the android be removed and just windows recovering the space that was used by android? I ruined my cheap pipo pc trying to delete the android off it so dont want to risk that again.

Okay, first question, is there anything faster. Well this tablet has a modest resolution and a 3736F chipset, which should make it quite a lot smoother than the standard baytrails of a similar ilk- and reviews seem to confirm this. So far as newer chipsets, mainly we are dealing is 8300 cherry trails right now, sometimes with more ram, but generally the same sort of performance as a 3735F (which is less than this, this has .3 higher burst speed and it makes a difference). There are also some m-core hybrids in larger screen sizes, but I haven't stocked any of these as the price, while well below a surface, are still higher than what I normally stock. The cube i7, teclast x2 pro and some others come to mind. I will eventually stock something like this, but not for awhile in likelihood, because demand is probably lower.

I anticipate some decent 8500 or 8700 models like this soon, next 1-2 months I'd guess, that are more affordable for the consumer. And I'll no doubt get in on that.

Second question, yes it is possible to entirely remove android, if you can preserve all the device drivers for windows. This is not an easy process. I have done it, with a dual boot 8 inch tablet, and it took some effort (including registry changes, driver back-up, full back-up and a bit of mucking around). You can also just delete the non-boot parts of the android partition, but this doesn't reclaim the full space (although if you are careful it's a great deal easier). So in short it can be done, but it can be a very techy job, and you should absolutely back up the whole disk image if you plan on trying it yourself.

If you brought one of these vi10's, I could have a look at upgrading it to solo windows 10, but it would be easier if I do this to have a week or so, to make sure it's all done right. Once the drivers are all in, and windows is a fresh install, it works better than an upgrade, but the process itself - it tends take a bit of fiddling.
