Help to put share buy in

Hi all, I've got money sitting in an overseas account with https://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/home.php. I have particular stocks i wish to buy off their site but i'm having trouble doing that.

Having never bought shares before i did look at their tutorials but there's something i'm not grasping.

I'm happy to reimburse someone to set me right, i'm sure it wouldn't take much.I live in Old Papatoetoe not far from Auckland Airport or i 'm happy to travel

OK.. I'm not with Interactive Brokers, but I do use other similar diy trading sites.

Normally you'd click on the "trade" or "trading" tab at the top of the page
then on "buy/sell"
select "stocks"
(if you haven't already - choose the account you want to fund the purchase from)
enter the stocks' "symbol" eg "BA" for Boeing
choose your action - "buy" or "sell"
enter the number of shares
choose the type of purchase eg "market" or "limit" - if limit, then your limit price
choose the "duration" eg 1 day
then "preview" to review your order

If everything's good, hit confirm.

Interactive brokers can be confusing for beginners. Buying stocks is under 'Trade' button on top when you login using your computer. You can search for the stock/ETF first, then select the buy type - Market, Limit, Mid Price etc, then the quantity of stock/ETF and then price. If you are very new to stocks, I would recommend starting with a provider like Hatch or Sharesies first :)

I'd tend to agree about other platforms if you are new. IBKR is great but it takes a bit of learning to use.

If you want to persevere I go as above then select choose Limit. I look at the market price, chose a price at or a few cents below the current quote price and calculate how many shares/units I can afford for the amount of money I want to invest.

There's a few videos on YouTube how to use the platform. Here's one that may help

Oh and just use the web portal. The desktop software is less than intuitive.
