I just want to play my Xbox in HD quality on my new t.v, is this to much to ask?

Right i have got a 360 Elite and I'm trying to set it up on a LG RZ-32LZ50 i recently purchased of ebay.

First of all I bought a standard HDMI cable, as i presumed the T.V would have that connection. I was wrong.

So I researched the T.V found out it received HD through a DVI connection.

So I purchased the DVI - HDMI cable. And no Audio!? HD picture with no sound! Brilliant! ¬.¬

Please someone Help me by telling me just what cable it is I need, so I don't end up buying all of them as my collection of useless wires is already plentiful!

Also this is not purely for entertainment purposes, In the past I have unfortunately needed several procegers to correct my sight, so this is also to ease the damage and discomfort caused from poor picture quality.

Any help is greatly appreciated!!! ^.^

DVI won't pass audio through to the TV.  You need to plug in the composite A/V cable (that should have come with your XBox) and use the red and white RCA cables to pass through the audio signal.

That's what i thought, sorry i should have wrote this too. I tried that but the Xbox design flaw wont allow the two connection at the same time as they are located to close to each other.

...or the "HDMI Audio Adapter" or VGA HD AV Cable which have TOSLink and RCA outputs.  There's a good list of accessories on Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_360_accessories#AV_Connectors_and_Cables

Apparently it's a feature that the HDMI cable and standard AV cables can't coexist... in any case, either of the options in my last post should work (although you'd also need a DVI to VGA adapter if you go for the VGA option).

DVI does not carry audio signals, only video.  You will have to connect audio via analog.  Look on the back of the TV for DVI audio in or PC audio in or something like that.  Usually via a 3.5mm stereo (ie headphone) jack or possibly RCA sockets.

Yes, but you will also need a VGA to DVI adapter.  If you can find the "HDMI Audio Adapter" which is a slimmer adapter that works alongside your HDMI cable, then that will potentially save you tracking down another dongle.

or as i already have all the other cables, is this DVI Male to HDMI Female Adapter Converter for HDTV? good enough for the job? as it's a way cheaper option!

Although would i be able to also connect my laptop via the xbox dv av thing? two birds and all that

I have a RS232C vga port so would i need to VGA to DVI adapter? or is DVI the only way to receive hd?

Why can't they make this stuff easier! lol

If the TV has a VGA port then you should be OK with that cable.  In your first post you said something about the TV only receiving HD via DVI...

The HDMI to DVI converter won't work, DVI doesn't have the necessary pins to carry an audio signal...

Either one will work in your situation.  I use a VGA HD AV cable to connect my XBox to my projector, works great in 1080p.

The only thing that made me doubt the Vga port is because i do have a vga cable but it only fits in the laptop. unless i need a female connection for the t.v, i'm sorry i haven't been explaining myself very well. I can grasp all other fields of technology but for some reason i have a blind spot when it comes to t.v's.

Should i upload a photo of the connection ports so you don't have to try and figure out what i'm talking about? lol

I think you misunderstood.  The PC audio port on the back of the TV is to INPUT an analog audio signal coming from your Xbox to get sound into the TV, not to get sound from by connectiong speakers ;)
