So hear it is, I have big home theater set up an we are often switching between sky and the HTPC to watch movies etc, Problem being I have a missus that's not to techo savy so if she wants to watch a movie of flick between sky and the HTPC I have to drive it other wise it ends up in a mess.

I programmed up a Logitech 1100i and still she manages to cause head aches because combines other remotes into the equation

So heres where it leaves me, I would like to give her media portal where everything is in front of her,nmy problem is im dangerous with only half the information :P

I have a DVB-S tuner card and built myself a Jaycar Card Reader, I installed a PCI Serial card to try and cut down issues, I have the NZ45 Card from sky, and her is where i run out of steam, i can see the channels in mediaportal which are obviously scrambled, I have connected my Card reader and inserted my card and tried the HOW TO OSCAM NZ forum from here where all I ever get is the failure almost the same as this

Ditch the jaycar junk get an omnikey (~$25NZD shipped)
http://www.ebay.com/itm/HID-OmniKey-OK3021-smart-card-reader-for-online-banking-digital-signatures-/200699174072?pt=US_Memory_Card_Readers_Adapters&hash=item2eba9a5cb8

For MediaPortal you need acamd and MDAPI+. MDAPI+/acamd connects to oscam which talks to the smartcard.

Also consider getting a DVB-S2 card so you can get HD channels. A dual or quad card would be best. I've tested up to 16 channels recording simultaneously with a quad S2 card and omnikey reader.

Help me build a better way of doing politics in Aotearoa New Zealand

TBS6984 PCI-E DVB-S2 Quad Tuner TV card is what i brought my self, From the reviews i read they seamed the most bullet proof. I have just placed the order for the omnikey, and where would I find the peaces of soft ware you mentioned?

Definitely +1 for the omnikey, wont solve all your problems but will at least make life a lot easier. Have a quick search of the forums there are a couple of threads detailing how to set it all up.

If you list your PC spec here and also media software then I can tailor my setup guide if it needs it.  I've just helped another member of GZ setup sky and it's working fine for them!
