Hi guys,

I've got my HTPC up and running now and its been going really well other than one issue that is driving me crazy and I just cant seem to find a solution to.

Basically, I run WMC7 interface on the pc and at the same time run iTunes in the background so I can sync and use airplay.

The problem I have is that when I use airplay, (or first start itunes) iTunes takes control of the Stop, Skip and Replay buttons on the remote so that these don't work in WMC any more.  Its a real pain as you cant use these when watching a video or tv.  The only way I've found to stop it is to a) close WMC, minimise itunes and then reopen WMC or b) close iTunes.

WMC is set to be on top all the time.

Any suggestions to stop this happening and keep the remote commands locked to WMC?

Thanks

B

I haven't tried this but it seems to be what you need  http://www.eventghost.org/
Just chose your remote brand in add plugin and you can assign exclusive rights to wmc, reassign itunes macros or disable all together. hope this helps.

Thanks. I tried that one out as well but to no avail. In fact it (or me...) ended up stuffing my system so bad that the only way to recover was to reinstall windows from scratch (and now I have created a restore image which I've been meaning to do...). Reading on line others have had problems controlling wmc with it as well due to the way wmc handles inputs.

But I think I may have found a work around. the short answer is two accounts on the pc. Wmc runs on the main one while iTunes runs on the one in the background (as I said at the start I only access this from iOS devices so don't need instant access to it on the pc.

With this configuration wmc is not effected by iTunes at all and yet I can still access iTunes remotely.

The only issue that I have now is that I can't find a wy to login to two windows accounts automaticly. The current work around I have so far is to auto load the iTunes account, then auto start a script that starts iTunes and then kicks me out into the login screen where I can pick the main wmc account to login to.

Any one have any ideas how to get round this though as it would be nice just to be blue to start both and go straight into wmc.

Cheers

B
