I have a Dell computer playing ripped Blu ray files or discs via VLC. It works well when I connect the HDMI lead to the Dell Moniter via the Onkyo TX-SR875 AV amp. I get good picture and full 5.1 surround sound.

But when the HDMI cable is plugged into a TV or a Panasonic hi def projector the Onkyo displays "no signal" and the picture plays fine but the sound disappears.

When the Dell computer monitor is once again used as the screen the HDMI is shown as working again on the Onkyo and I get good sound. Any Ideas? Thanks in advance...

Right I will answer my own question.

I went to:
NVIDIA Control Panel / Display / Change Resolution /( then your AV amp or TV highlighted as one of the display choices as it should be pluged in via the HDMI lead. )

Then scroll up and change the Resolution from the PC menu your computer will be using to the HD SD selection that suits your TV or Projector.

After all this the AV amp recognized the HDMI input from the computer and sound played perfectly...
