This is infuriating... I've got a fairly stupid setup: blu-ray player connected to TV via HDMI, and connected to HTS's DVD player/controller via digital optical (because the HTS only has HDMI out). Works fine for Dolby 5.1, but it won't downmix DTS-HD and send it through the optical cable. I've followed all the instructions in the manual: DTS-HD output is set to 'Bitstream' (which the manual tells me will convert it to regular DTS), and I've disabled HDMI audio, which is what I'm meant to do if it's connected to a TV via HDMI and a separate audio output via something else.

As it is, all I can get to work is the 5.1 descriptive audio track, which means that's it's like

* character says something
[narrator]: HE FROWNS
* character says something else
[narrator]: SHE GLOWERS

Any idea if it's possible to make it work? Blu-ray is a Panasonic DMP-BD60 and the HTS is a Panasonic SA-PT550.

Thanks in advance...

Sorry can't help. I have a Panasonic 220 and have given up trying to get it to stream. I now stream directly to the Panasonic TV which works just fine - I just have to accept the sacrifice in sound quality. I spent endless time trying to get Bit stream vs PCm and AVI vs other file formats, In the end I set up several different users. One user I used to play files from a USB stick. the other user  was for streaming. One was PCM, the other Bit stream - can't remember which. The best I could ever do was 2.0 sound never 5.1 so I gave it away. Apart from that a great Blu ray player all the same.

One day, if I can be bothered I plug my Oppo back in, run AVI files off a USB and get the 5.1 – that worked fine!
