how old is the tv?

most tvs cannot connect to amp via hdmi

your best bet is optical cable OR connect your dvd player to your amp via hdmi and them amp to tv via hdmi OR connect you dvd player to amp via optical and dvd player to tv via whatever you are using now

good luck

You merely require an HDMI and optical cable (sometimes known as a Toslink) from the back of the TV to the amp.
The optical cable will give you sound from the TV, through your speakers. If you plug the cable into 'Optical 1' on the back of the amp, you will need to set the amp to 'Optical 1' to get sound.
Looking at the Aussie LG website, it says your amp is HDMI enabled, so it's a case of plugging the HDMI cable from the amp, into one of your TV's 4 x HDMI ports.
Easy.

That TV supports HDMI-ARC - Audio Return Channel - It should pass the TV audio back down the HDMI cable. You should just have to select TV on the Audio system.
I'm a little bit out of the loop, so I don't know if that receiver supports ARC (or if it needs to) - looking at the manual it looks like it doesn't, so you will need an optical cable as mentioned above.
