Hello, i'm new here but found this brilliant forum whilst searching for an answer.

I am trying to get an EPG working on WMC 7. I have tried downloading EPG centre but this doesn't work. When I open EPG Centre the log shows a couple of errors Configeration incorrect and then Exiting with code =2. Then when I tried to select the 'Create collection parameters' i get this dialogue box appear.

Unhandled exception has occurred in your application....

Could not finda part of the pathC:\Users\Wheatleys\Downloads\EPGCollector v4.1 fixpak 9 \samples\Collector\

Is anyone able to help me with a fix for this? All I have done is downloaded the program from sourceforge then extracted all the files and run the EPG Centre app.

Thanks,

Chris

Remove the EPG Collector files from your PC.

Go to this page download and run "EPG Collector V040100 Install.msi".

This will install the EPG Collector.

Then on the same page download "EPG Collector v4.1 Fixpak 9.zip". Extract the contents of the files OVER the existing install created by the previous program (by default c:\program files (x86)\Geekzone\EPG Collector").

As described above the fixpacks are updates to the software, not the complete package.

Install the msi and then unzip fixpack 9 over it to apply the updates. Also fixpacks are cumulative so fixpack 9 has all the updates from fixpack 1 thru 8.

Is there a way of incorporating the fix pack into the program download? I was also caught out by this rather unusual set up.

Glad i'm not the only one that got caught out by it! Does anyone have a link for a step by step guide to getting this all working now? I'm still a little lost and cant find the link that I originally had. Thanks

I have deleted all the old v4.1 fixpacks and added a comment to the beginning of the remaining fixpack ReadMe that makes it clear that you must install the base software before the fixpack.

Thanks for your help, finally have an EPG for the first time since moving to NZ!

I'm not quite sure if I have the task scheduler set correctly as I just have it to run the EPG collector.exe will this automatically take it through the process of downloading the new guide data?

Thanks

There are some instructions for setting up the task in the ReadMe.

Also if you are importing terrestrial Freeview data directly to WMC you should set the option on the Output tab thats labelled 'Create data for channels with the same name.....' and on the same tab set 'Disable in-band guide loader'.

If you don't set 'Automatically map EPG...' you will need to map the data in WMC. Instructions in the ReadMe.

Ok Here we go,

Allright Got Epg Collector No problems setting it up No problems with the fixpack
everything works right... Here is the Dilemma i am having.

allright NA sat 119 I am trying to use the standalone procedure to get an epg
guide for Dishnet well I am using a dishpro 1000.2 lnb I have no problems locking
the transponder and the Freq for the epg guide.. It even gets the records everything is right
however when it writes the XML file it is empty... The tags are there but it is empty
I have tried it in eit mode and i have tried it in dishnet mode DSSPRO i have tried
the bandstacked method as well.. But it keeps writing an empty xml file with just
tags and no data even though it finds the data.. I have been at this for a week and
I am finally at the point where i am going to be sitting in a corner drooling at any
second... I went as far as to download just the 44hr guide and it still wrote an empty
xml file.... I have been to various websites and still have not found any help on the
matter.... Can someone PLEASE PLEASE Shed some light on this crazy thing before
i blow a gasket heheheh (Joking) but any help would be appreciated

                                     Thanks
