I was just curious what other people think about SED televisions that are a flat-panel television that uses millions of CRTs instead of one electron gun.

Putting aside cost - to me it seems to be a good idea if they come to market.

Unless something dramatic comes along in terms of manufacturing, I don't believe that SED will ever be in a usable price range. Plasma and LCD have stolen the show, and both have been around (well, LCD at least) for ages now.

Plasma is also very old but was restricted to being bright-orange ancient laptop displays in the first laptops.

The latest technologies that will probably see to market are LED based rear-projection for the cheaper-end sets and oLED displays for the true flat-panels

I also read somewhere that there is some legal issues of the technology used by SED.
I think it has to do with a Patent.

But SED should be available by the end of the year.

There is a story here questioning whether SED TV's will ever reach the marketplace.
