I have a Onkyo 709 and had ideas of connecting a set of wireless headphones---Sennheiser RS 180 or RS 220 but I can't find anyway to do it on the 709.
Shame is I am waiting to get it back after paying for a new HDMI board for it.
When it is repaired, if I sell it what could I replace it with that is reasonable quality and will accept wireless headphones.?

I just googled "onkyo 709" and it looks like theres a headphone jack? This is what you need to use. The Amp looks like it has many options you can use for output. Have you considered a line level to high level output converter? i.e. taking output from those RCA outputs (line level) and convert to high level to drive your headphone unit (unless of course it accepts line level).

I also saw on the google image that there is an analouge audio output too.

I've just had my 709 repaired (new hdmi board) did you try to get it done under warranty?

For the headphones, unfortunately the amp is missing an optical out which would make life much easier, I ended up with an optical splitter taking in inputs from all my devices and outputting to my headphones the downside being I have to manually switch it when I change device (htpc to game console, etc).

The alternative is as using the headphone jack..

Thanks for that ,it is what I thought.
Sadly I went ahead and got a local Tech to get a HDMI board as my 709 is 29 months old and I thought outside warranty, have not heard back yet but the board was going to be approx $320.
Your idea I will look into.
I was wondering if I could get an HDMI splitter from HDMI out----take one to the TV and grab the audio off the other. I don't know if that is possible. I was hoping I could get increased sound in the headphones (my hearing is not the best) without muting all other sound. A lot of old style TV's had a separate headphone volume without muting when headphones plugged in.
