Hi there,

I'm after a USB turntable. I'm only looking at using it to put vinyl onto my computer... not for day to day use.

Can anyone recommend a good make and model, preferably with software included?

Budget is up to $500.

Cheers.

Get this one: Audio-Technica AT-LP120 USB. Brilliant turntable, can be had for ~$400 via Amazon and sometimes on Trademe.

I second this suggestion. I imported one of these from Amazon last year, and I love it! Cost me approximately NZD $450 to import. The same model is sold locally for around NZD $700.

I forgot to add that you will want to try and get Amazon to ship it directly to you. Depending on where the order is being fulfilled from, it may be necessary to use a freight forwarding service like YouShop. If I had done that, my freight costs would have risen from NZD $150 to NZD $240.

The Project is nice, but a little pricey. There's a Denon around the traps that should at $500 or so.
Otherwise, there are some cheap POC available at the local Jaycar / DSE's.

true, they have gone up since i last looked.

very good performance though.

an aternative may be to buy a used 'table of good quality and use a usb capable phono stage.

nad and project have models available at ~$300.

For the money I doubt you'll beat the Audio Technica...

project sounds better out of the box - the supplied ortofon cartridge is a base model but it is accurately aligned and the tt is easy to setup, as near to plug
'n play as you can get with a tt.

for ripping to computers you want to get the best sounding tt possible, within budget constraints etc.

much better to get the analogue playback right before fiddling with computer files.
