Hoping someone can help me here I am looking for an idiots guide to setting up XMLTVNZ with Mediaportal - this is my first play in the field of PVR's.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

MediaPortal standalone or MediaPortal TV Server?

K well IMHO if you're going to put effort into getting MediaPortal up and running it may as well be TVServer has many benifits and it's not much harder.

As far as XMLTVNZ goes the basic idea is that every few days you run (using the windows task scheduler)a batch file which runs the xmltvnz.exe which creates an xml file. In the mediaportal configuration you specifiy where that xml file is located it then peroidcally imports it in to the mediaportal database. I can't remember exactly how it works in the standalone version but in TV Server it just imports it as soon as a new file is palced in the specified folder. I think in the standalone version you need to have a seperate shceduled task that does the import.

My batch file looks like this:

CD C:\Program Files\Scripts\epgGrabber\NZ

xmlTVNZ.exe ..\tvguide.xml -seconds -offset +1200 -noicons prime AltTV sky_sky1 sky_movies1 sky_sport1 sky_juice sky_nickelodeon sky_discovery >log.txt

Hmm yep your probably right - I need to relook at this.. Thanks for your help I am going to have another play tonight and see how I get one!

Thanks for your help so far - having a few issues getting the batch file to outut the xml file?

Seems to download the channels ok (takes around 5 - 10 min) no errors but no schedule.xml produced?

C:\xmlTVNZ_2.5.0.3\xmlTVNZ.exe schedule.xml\xmlTVNZ.exe schedule.xml is what I am currently using.

Really showing my lack of knowledge here I'm afraid....

Hmmmm. I think it should be more like this:

C:\xmlTVNZ_2.5.0.3\xmlTVNZ.exe schedule.xml (then all you options) example might be:

C:\xmlTVNZ_2.5.0.3\xmlTVNZ.exe schedule.xml -seconds -offset +1200 TV1 TV2 TV3 C4 Prime

Thank you for all your help - I am now finally up and running (can get two days worth of guide now!) Very happy camper!

Now I can have more of a play and no doubt post more q's...
