Have just purchased Panasonic 835 recorder. Trying to connect to mysky and sony tv and it says that it cannot find any digital channels and says to check the aerial.
I have checked all the aerial connections and really can't see what is wrong.
Mysky is still working and I can play DVDs through the recorder but it will not find channels

I have read the forum on connecting a Panasonic recorder / normal sky and sony tv and followed the answer from B1GGLZ but it will still not find any channels.

Any ideas please.

Panasonic recorder is designed to receive DVB-T channels from a UHF antenna. If you have no such antenna you won't be finding any channels.

Maybe you could tell us if you have ever received digital terrestrial channels or if you have such an antenna.

Spark Max Fibre using Mikrotik CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+, CRS125-24G-1S, Unifi UAP, U6-Pro, UAP-AC-M-Pro, Apple TV 4K (2022), Apple TV 4K (2017), iPad Air 1st gen, iPad Air 4th gen, iPhone 13, SkyNZ3151 (the white box). If it doesn't move then it's data cabled.

I don't know if we have a UHF antenna - how can I tell? I don't know what DVB-T channels are.
The old Panasonic recorder worked using the same connections.
Even when the aerial was directed into the mysky and then through the recorder, it still didn't work.

mySky's connect to dishes NOT terrestrial antennas. mySkys receive DVB-S mpeg2 or DVB-S2 H.264 from satellites NOT DVB-T H.264 from terrestrial towers.

Note: mySky's have no input for a terrestrial antenna so there is no way you connected any antenna in the way you just described.

Okay - do this...

Connect MySky to the satellite dish cable as per usual.
Plug the MySky box into the Sony TV via an HDMI cable.

Plug the Panasonic BluRay recorder into the Sony TV via an HDMI cable.
Plug a red/white/yellow cable from the MySky box into the Panasonic BluRay recorder's AV INPUT connections.
Change the AV input on the BluRay recorder to 'AV' and you should be able to copy content off the MySky box onto the hard drive of the BluRay recorder...

IF you want to get UHF Freeview on the Panasonic BluRay recorder, you'll need a UHF aerial on the roof, then to connect the cable directly into the back of the Panasonic recorder.

If you have the mySky connected to an analog RF modulator via analog composite connection then there is no way that the Panasonic 835 with its DVB-T tuner can receive any analog RF signal (unlike your old recorder which had an analog PAL tuner).

Yes it did because I got a TV technician around. I didn't understand many of the answers like 'connected to an analog RF modulator'.
Basically I had it connected correctly, and pretty much as per what Dunnersfella said. The aerial jack is connected to the sky dish and we don't have a UHF aerial so cannot receive Freeview.
We connect the aerial jack to mysky machine, then mysky as a SCART connection to the 835 recorder, and also via SCART to the TV, then the recorder via HDMi to the TV.
What I hadn't been able to find was the button on the remote to tell the recorder to get its signal from the mysky (AV) and not from the TV (the TV has never been tuned - we have always watched purely through satellite TV - and of course we don't have a UHF aerial).
All I had to do was find the AV button, which was the button labelled 'input selection' - bottom LH corner. Aaaah Eureka. One little button.....

Recorder would typically get its signal via its own DVB-T tuner, not via the TV. The TV is a completely separate entity with its own tuner.

OK. Now if you are in a UHF area install a UHF antenna and both your TV and Recorder will receive, record and display magnificent HD pictures far superior to SD satellite.
