hi all,

can someone explain why we cannot receive the australian freeview channels that are broadcasted via OptusD1 here in nz?

I'm not sure exactly what you mean.

There are Australian TV channels transmitted on D1 but they are all encrypted so you won't pick them up without an appropiate smart card to decrypt them.

because those D1 channels are on a different spot beam (map), which doesn't reach NZ

The channels on Optus C1 are encrypted

Has anyone tried a large dish on D1? I know a 2.4m will just get some of the foxtel transponders off C1, but I was told that the antenna design has come on quite a bit since C1 was built so there may not be enough spill to get it.

Im still trying to get a 3.2 solid, apparently thats enough to get all foxtel transponders in Auckland.
