Hi

I am looking at buying a Home theatre Amp and see the Sony STR DN1050 has had good reviews....and can be bought for under $900. What I want is while my wife is watching a movie or TV  on  Zone 1, I can be listening to music on Zone 2.......now here is the tricky part....I want to be able to get music transmitted from the Amp....be the source coming from a CD/IPOD, or Spotify to wireless headphones...e.g. Bluetooth. Ideally headphones I can be working in the garden, or while painting the house... wife can watch TV and I working outside listening to music etc
Now I am new to this....but as far as I know this AMP can receive blue tooth signal etc but can not transmit one....is this feature possible? Can you buy a blue tooth transmitter which could transmit  (ideally via one of the Zones...) to  wireless headphones while the other zone is in use.....or someway to transmit the signal to my headphones?

Has any one done this?
If so how (please) so I can replicate?
Thoughts on the  Sony STR-DN1050? Better AMPS under $900 that you would rate better and if so why?

Thoughts on wireless headphones to transmit to....what are the best ones for under $200......could be last years model now been reduced to clear...Ideally I have $1000 all up Really appreciate any help....

and hope you all have a great and safe Christmas break Cheers Peter

There are bluetooth transmitters. Friend got one off ebay for $30 or so, works ok. Dont like your chances of getting to outside on bluetooth however.

Suggestions on using a different transmitter signal than Bluetooth?

How much quality will I likely lose when using a transmitter?

The trick is, can I have the transmission linked to one Zone....so the other zone can be for television? e.g. can the transmitter come out of Zone 2 only?

So long as there are RCA outputs for the second zone, you will be fine.

I got some non bluetooth wireless headphones that cover most of the house. Not sure what frequancy it is but it works about half way down the driveway.

Just watch the amp tho, on my onkyo there is no way to get sound from HDMI sources to the second zone, so its fine with the inbuilt streaming, bluetooth playback from a phone or the FM radio or any of the RCA inputs, but there is no way to get games console or PC audio or anything on the firetv or chomecast to the second/third zones, which is a real stupid feature. I dont have anything with RCA outs even connected to it anymore.

I have the 737 which I got at big boys toys for about that.

Horrid user interface, poor HDMI handling and the lack of HDMI being able to feed the other zones makes it prettymuch useless for me for multizone. Also they play slightly out of time with each other when on the same source (I tried spotify and bluetooth) - its as annoying as having 2 tvs on the same channel - 100ms or so difference so it sounds like some BS stadium surround mode.

Also it runs _hot_ even when just having the second powered zone active, and the 3rd zone is via analog RCA outputs only so even tho I am only using it as a 2.1 system on the main zone, I cant use the empty rear channels as an amp for the 3rd zone which some other amps let you do.

All up most HT gear seems to be seriously lacking on one way or another. Sound quality on the 737 seems ok, but I havent had a chance to really push its amps as its only connected to a couple of pathetic bookshelf speakers, but they are driven ok. But the room is noticiably warmer when its been left on whereas with my old stereo no HDMI reciever it basically didnt get warm unless driven hard.

Yamaha RXV677 is an option, plug in the wireless RF headphone to the 'Zone 2 Zone Out' port and go from there.
It should work perfectly for a CD player connected via RCA cables, or a BluRay player that offers both HDMI AND RCA outputs. Actually, the same goes for a MySky box (HDMI and RCA cables).
Network connectivity 'should' also work, obviously it's not something I've tried, but the amp does play network inputs through Zone 2, so it makes sense to think it will...
Headphone wise, I've had the best distance results with RF cans, not bluetooth.
