Well, today i went to use my video camera and nothing worked....seems completely screwed, no power, PSU doesnt do anything, tapes wont even eject. Its a Canon MVX330i, pretty nice camera and ive only had it for a couple ofyears, alas i doubt its worth to be repaired, and im kinda keen to get a new toy anyways.
So im looking into HD cameras now, and im kinda not sure on a few things.
First, what is this AVCHD i keep seeing, people say it can be a nightware doing post production stuff with it. Has anyone got one of these cameras, can you elaborate?

Also, im trying to decide between a harddrive based camera, which means AVCHD from the selection, or a DV camera again. I dont mind DV, but it would be nice not having to carry tapes and crap with me and just have it all inside the camera.

Well, any input is appreciated. Dont really wanna spend more than $1000.

The 2 ive found so far are the

and Canon HV20, which so far seems the best on the market at what im willing to pay, but again. im stuck with tapes D:

Just a quick note, did you make sure that the back-up battery is not dead also? Quite often there is a button cell that sits under the normal battery pack holster/cradle on the camera.

yeah, ive already jumped thru hoops with this thing trying everything i know including the small button battery.
Usually even if the battery is flat, the tapes still eject. even with the power supply plugged in they dont move.
