Hi.

I am trying to find a really good speaker that does :

1) Wifi Dual Band

2) Bluetooth

3) NFC

4) AirPlay

5) Compatible as a Spotify target

6) Excellent sound quality

7) Ok for a reasonable sized room with no shocking bass or music issues with not listening dead centre to it. (IE Projects decent music around a room

8) Mains and Battery compatible.

9) Isn't ugly

I'd like to spend <$500

Anyone have any recommendations?

Mains and battery compatible is going to be a major issue I'd have thought... I don't see that as being well implemented for quite a while.

Well, not if you want it to sound good / work well as a product.

Well Sonys SRS-X77 and 88 seem to tick the boxes, except for sound quality to be present you need to sit within a specific cone apparently.

That recent Samsung M7 deal could have been a good start. For $100 you can forget about making it portable.

I'd want to go big for plug in jobs, and smaller for portable. I find most that try to do both end up quite small. Heard good things about the UE Boom units etc. Be interested to see what others have to say to this thread.

I bought one of those, but it's bass was AWFUL (I couldn't live with it). I sold it and am looking for a replacement.

I have a UEboom which meets all these requirements except it's not very nice looking and doesn't support WiFi.

Where did you sell it? Did it move easily?

I must say the wifi nature is pretty cool. It allows the unit to function independently of the remote control device, meaning the music doesn't stop when you get a notification on your phone etc, and you can turn the phone off altogether.

I'm seriously considering a Chromecast Audio for this purpose, fed into the back of a minisystem or similar, so I can get bigger speakers and a better response. In my case it sits on top of a fridge, so I'm not too worried about the devices footprint size etc.

I sold it on TM. I got $235 for it, wasn't as much as I was expecting, but I'd rather have it gone.
