Hi,

Just bought a Samsung 46" LCD TV (1MP) and using it with Media Portal AND a Nova-S DVB-S tuner (Hauppauge remote). What I've found is when adjusting volume etc on the TV, Media Portal will respond also (volume causes scrolling etc). Oddly enough, using the Hauppauge remote doesn't effect/control the TV.

Has anyone else had a similar issue and resolved it? I was thinking I'd just buy a MS MCE remote and use this instead but I really don't want to spend $$$ only to encounter a similar issue.

Loving the new telly BTW - previously we had a 29" Sony CRT and it just didn't compare with Media Portal.

So is it the Samsung remote causing the problem?

Can the Hauppauge remote learn the TV volume control like you can do with the MS remote?

Yep, Samsung remote is causing the problem. Doing anything with the Sammy remote causes Media Portal to go into a spin...so much so that it can actually crash it.

Will check the learning side of things - that would be a big help (its worse at the moment whist we change various settings on the TV to get the best picture).

Righto, just to followup on this incase someone else experiences it...

I tried the learning side of the Hauppauge remote but couldn't work it out - I think I'm missing something there but no matter because I grabbed a MS MCE remote for $56 and it works perfectly. No more interference from the Sammy remote and it works well too. Didn't take a hell of a lot to get it working either - drivers installed under WinXP SP2 automatically and Media Portal just ran with it. Brilliant!

The only thing I'd like to be able to do is to use the TV Power button on the MCE remote to minimise/maximise Media Portal (toggle action) so I can use this when I want to use a keyboard with the unit. Ie, min MP, use Windows, max MP to use it again.
