Why would you want to do that? The .1 is added at mix time with the additional bass in it that is more then the main full range channels can cope with on a reference system (there is some thx standard for the amount of bass in the mains vs the LFE channel)

All you can do is the equivilant of turning the bass up since you dont have the origional material to mix into it, since you have the resulting downmix only available to ound making more bass is easier done on an equalizer at playback time.

Hi Karl,

This functioinality is normally provided with the hardware used to play it.

For example, 2.1 speakers like the logitech Z4 will split from a 2 ch input.

For a PC, the sound card or MB will have a utility to set up what speakers you have plugged in and most have a tool to 'create' 5.1 or 2.1 from stereo.

You should check out FFDSHOW (Windows Software). It's freeware, and the audio side allows a lot of tweaking, including multi-channel up-mixing.

In fact I use it myself to expand the 2-channel audio signal from my media centre into 5.1 channels before encoding in AC3 and sending to my reciever via SPDIF cable.
