Hi guys,

I have just purschased a new home which has all the TV cabelling wired back to a central location.

Unfortunalty there has been no allowances made for hardwired IR, but the old owner must of been using somthing to transmit the IR as his Sky decoder was in the cupboard.

Can you guys recommend what my best option is to control my devices (MySKY, WDTV)

The cupboard has 2 HDMI faceplates which are wired back to the TV

If possible i would like to have my AppleTV using the IR also but im not sure how many devices i can run

The TV is approx 6M from the cupboard

I have hard wired all my gear back to a central point 15m away in garage. I went for this to remote control everything. It's been flawless. Never failed since installation.

Good luck!

You might be able to use the second HDMI for an IR HDMI extender such as this: http://matchmaster.co.nz/domestic/accessories/05mm-re05

There's a bunch of similar style things on Aliexpress etc.

Most likely there will be CAT5/6 cabling as well so maybe use some HDBAse-T units with IR on them.

Unfortunatly there is no Cat5/6 which is a surprise. Only HDMI / Composite & RCA
