I am putting together a Mediaportal HTPC for someone. Its on Windows 10 and its all going well and works well with my Hauppage TV card DVD-T 500 dual. I have done a few Mediaportal builds, but it has been some time.

My usual way of getting a TV card is just go to Ascent and type in Hauppage, and buy! But where have the all gone?

Has anyone brought a card that has been successful recently. I have a spare PCI and PCIe slots. I prefer a card to USB, I think.

Have one of these coming. Fairly expensive, but, 4 tuners for 1 pcie slot.

Was going to suggest those cards. I've got the dvbs version and works well.

Most people use network tuners such as the HDHomerun these days.

Wow, thanks for the responses.

ZollyMonsta if you can send me an email I would be interested in your card as I think that's the one I used in my brothers HTPC. email is windykiwis@gmail.com.

Dolson would be interested to know how it goes, but thats a bit out of the budget for the person I am trying to help, but a quad card does sound good.

I tried a $20 USB stick I got of trademe last night, but no luck. All I got was the new blue screen of death in windows 10, but they have upgraded it with a smiley face.

Just a quick update with my experiences with the new card.

Received the card and it's quite small. Will fit a low profile case if needed. Installation was as per any standard pcie card install - no issues there. Windows update (on Windows 7, 64bit) didn't find a driver for card automatically so just downloaded the latest driver from their website.

The card only requires 1 aerial input for the 4 tuners. The card has a F type connector and came with a belling lee adapter if needed. It was nice to be able to use the F Type connector for the card as the previous cards connector became loose over time.

Mediaportal found the 4 tuners without issue and tuned them. I can't remember whether they are named ABCD or 0123 (or 1234), however, each tuner is identified with a unique name.

I am in a very strong signal area so can't talk to the sensitivity of the tuner. Starting a channel in Mediaportal seems faster than the previous Hauppage card, however, I do not have any timings to confirm if this is the case.

The tuners can work in DVB-T/T2 mode and DVB-C mode, however, I believe that it is either/or, not say 2 DVB-T and 2 DVB-C tuners. I don't have any need to DVB-C therefore can't confirm.

Whilst it is early days, the tuner has been working well for just under a week and no issues have been identified. I'm happy with the purchase.

Full 8 day EPG data in the EIT table has been transmitted in an official capacity for about a year now and was introduced before Freeview Plus launched. It does use Huffman encoding, so there are some apps and boxes that may not support this.

Yes it does work in Wellington (it's nationwide) and I've been using it on Next PVR since it was turned on.

It doesn't work here in Tauranga via Te Aroha site using MediaPortal. I tried it a few months ago. Still need to use EPG Collector.
