I am setting up an entry level home theatre system. I have lined up the Q Acoustic 3010 package locally for $2000, but found it on Amazon for $1000 (nzd) less. I realise I would have to pay GST etc after shipping from my youshop address. My question is would there be major differences in the American product that would cause issues when I try to connect everything up? Is it worth the trouble? Have others bought similar items from Amazon?

I'm not familiar with that system, but you should certainly check whether it'll work with our 230/50 power.

if it doesn't, you can just get a transformer I believe.

Apart from needing adaptors for the plugs, transformers for the power, paying freight, paying GST, not having local warranty/support and (in an extreme case) not having the CGA to fall back on you should be fine :-)

Personally, mainly due to warranty issues, I'd be going back to the local supplier and [pleasantly] saying "Look - I can get it a lot cheaper if I buy from Amazon, even with the other bits I'd have to buy. What can you do about sharpening your price?"
