Hi everyone. I have an asus m2a-vm hdmi motherboard. I have disabled the x1250 onboard graphics and removed the drivers and installed an asus Nvidia 8600GT silent.

I have installed the drivers but I keep getting a bsod with a error about nv4_disp.dll.

Anyone seen this before?

Nevermind all. Just a matter of tracking down and installing updated asus and nvidia drivers I think. I am slowly getting there.

I am still having trouble. I have installed all the drivers etc for vista, asus smart doctor, asus gamerosd, nvidia vista drivers but in the process of installing the 8600gt I had to disable the onboard x1250 graphics and that somehow also disabled the ALC883 audio.

I guess that you can still use the alc883(I hope) without the hdmi board in the pc.

Does anyone know what might have happened?
I put the original asus driver cd in which used to have a driver for the realtek hd audio but no longer gives me the option.

I downloaded the vista realtek alc883 R1.90 driver from realtek and installed but it didn't do anything.

Perhaps I have disabled the audio i/o board when I disabled the graphics but I don't know how to re enable it without enabling the graphics.

Any help greatly appreciated.
Steve

What did you change in the BIOS?

There is no option to disable the onboard video, the system will automatically disable it when another video card is inserted.

I actually only uninstalled the display adapter in device manager I think.
Apart from disabling the hdmi in the bios, I don't remember making any other changes.
Perhaps I have just assumed I did as the audio is now missing.

The found new hardware wizard doesn't come up at all and there is no sound device listed in device manager now, so I thought perhaps I had somehow disabled it.

Any ideas how to go about reinstalling/re enabling it?
Or things to check into?

I think I have it sorted. I had disabled HD audio in bios thinking it was hdmi audio.
Now all I have left to sort out is there is no audio in media center.
Thanks
