Hi there - I have an issue connecting my new Bose Solo 5 soundbar to my tv via optical output. I can get sound through the bar when I directly connect the sky decoder box to the soundbar - however this is for watching sky only. When I wish to watch movies or listen to music from my hard drive (connected via usb) then I can only use the TV speakers. What I want to be able to do ultimately is that anything that is on the TV screen i.e sky, movies, music comes through the soundbar but when I connect the TV to the soundbar directly with the optical cable I get no sound. any ideas?

Cheers Caine

Have a look in the TVs setup menus. The audio optical output may be turned off.

Have you tried with multiple sources on the TV? Does it play sound through the soundbar if you use the TV's tuner, or play a DVD or USB file?

Were you connecting the soundbar to the MySky using optical?

If you look at the other end of the optical cable when connected to your TV (not right up to your eye) can you see the red light?

I have an LG TV connected to an older Bose Lifestyle 5.1 system using optical from the TV - works perfectly well with Sky, AppleTV, Internal Tuner etc.

Hi there - I have tried from USB - i.e my hard drive - no sound. Optical cable works fine as when connected directly to mySky it works. Will it make a difference if I change my TV audio settings from Optical to PCM? Cheers CV

Yes. PCM should ensure everything works fine.
