I have just built and in the process of setting up a HTPC. Using Vista and due to ongoing problems with WMC I am on the search for a launcher for Vodeo TS files. My mate has one he uses for his Mac which is called Matinee. Any ideas on a similar program or any other suggestions for managing my dvd collection on my hard drive

Perhaps Cyberlink PowerCinema5 or Cyberlink PowerDVD Ultra 8?

Cheers fellas,

I have both PowerCinema and Power DVD Ultra. I like the look of DVD ultra but can't seem to save the dvd files in it. It keeps wanting to conect to the website etc.

Beware I am new to this sort of computing and dont have a great understanding of them. But in saying that enjoying the challenge,

Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Hi!

Powercinema 5.1 supplied with the Nova-T 500 HD card provided tv watching from the first attempt but i still have some issues:
- I do not know how to switch a channel while recording. It is telling me the recording will be cancelled .
- yesterday it stopped playing the recorded shows (the htpc was assembled on Saturday, only few days ago). This previously worked. There is sound but no image. I tried to play them in VLC and I got the same result. VLC used to play them before. The saved recordings are shown as mpeg, I expected ".ts" files.
- the application crashes quite often, usually when navigating through menus and settings, it never crashed while watching or switching channels.

What application does generate the .ts files?

mobo Intel DH55PJ, RAM: 4GB RAM, Nova-T 500 HD + Avermedia Trinity tuner card, Geforce 520 video, 120GB SSD Sandisk + 640 WD + 1000SG, Win7 Home Prem 64-bit, Media Portal 1.15.0; BTC 9019URF Cordless Keyboard, Panasonic 55" (HDMI cable), HTPC Case Silverstone Grandia GD05B.

If you plan to use VMC then like Traderstu, I recommend MyMovies. It interfaces with VMC seemlessly and even downloads DVD art etc. It even works with single files (ie. .avi) so long as its in its own directory. Its what I've used from day 1 ... and its free.

Gentleman,

I now have My Movies and it works sweet. The only issue I have is how do you load DVD files that I have already saved on to my HDD. The only way I seem to be able to get a movie to show up in my collection is by using My Movies to copy it in the first place. Once again your help would be great.
