Just wondering if this was possible at all, the AU version has access to the google play store but we don't for some odd reason? Is there anyway to manually install it somehow? Cheers.

They're totally different devices.

Voda NZ's TV product is totally different to the AU one, and based on technology by Italian company Kaltura, who are also providing the same platform to Vodafone in other countries, but apparently not AU.

Ah, can't believe they're completely different. Still, is there any possible way to get Plex running on the NZ version? Just curious.

Nope, it's not possible because they're totally different devices and hardware (which isn't that surprising).

I was talking to the guy that was heavily involved the development in Vodafone TV and he said that they are thinking of new things to add to it so if you suggest it, maybe they will consider it.

To be honest you're probably better off running it on a Raspberry Pi or another media box.  Plex runs fine on my LG TV in the WebOS app, but it's not the fastest iteration I've used, it can be a bit sluggish to navigate.  Most of these sorts of apps run way better on dedicated hardware like a Roku/AppleTV/FireTV/etc.

That is interesting, we are running Plex on our LG TV using the same App and we have found no lag or sluggishness. The only issue is my wife hates going from this app to that app then another app or service to watch stuff. She wants it all in one place.

Might depend on the content.  How does yours respond to fast forward/rewind - i.e. not the skip forward/back function but the actual ff/rw?  I've always found that sluggish.  I find there's usually a few seconds of buffering at the beginning of a file on LG too, whereas on my PS4 or AppleTV it plays immediately.

I had some huge problems with the LG client over the last month when the WebOS app had a major DTS issue that caused constant buffering on files with DTS tracks.  They did patch it and it's working fine now, but it was a real headache for about a month.

All that said I use the LG app primarily and have no complaints.

I don't recall ever using  FF or rewind as there are no pesky adverts to skip over. I will try it and get back to you.

@gehenna I just tried FF and RW. If I just use teh right or left arrow on the LG remote its OK but a guessing game and the picture dosent display while doing it. But using the FF and RW conrols in the menu is truly aweful and not a feature I will use.

Yeah that's my experience too.  I just use the skip feature to find a spot in a video now, rather than ff/rw.
