I have a Samsung UA40K5500 tv that has developed in issue that occasionally when you change channels or source there is no sound.I have checked on line and this would appear to be a common problem with the only fix to turn off at the wall and restart the tv. Samsung would appear to have no other fix for this does anyone else here have this issue and do you know of a permanent fix.It is just more of an irritation than a major problem.

..has developed an issue...

So it was 100% perfect at one stage?

Have you changed anything at all?

Is sound via the TV or something else?

Yes it was 100% perfect for a couple of years

Nothing has been changed and it is completely random may go sometimes months without doing it then it may do it several times in quick succession .

The sound is through tv only no other sound connections. It is like it has switched to mute but no icon to say it has you can increase and decrease volume with remote just nothing comes out. You can switch it off with remote but it restarts with no sound.

when I searched online I discovered the fix of turning off the power and then restarting ,work's every time.

software update available?  or one recently done that caused the issue?  if the latter can you roll back?

Have checked for updates none required ,it is so random that I don't think it would have anything to do with up dates. Some people online have had the issue within weeks of purchase others like are getting it random. Many have contacted Samsung to no effect.

Have you contacted Samsung directly yourself? Have found them good to deal with.

Failing that if the TV is only a couple of years old you could consider a CGA claim. Again found Samsung good at coming to the party with a past issue.

You also say about updates that “none required”. Do you mean that there are no updates available? If there are I suggest installing them even if they are not directly intended to fix your issue.

Yes I did originally contact Samsung and that is where the idea to reset the tv came from, but I didn't realize it would be a continuing issue. As I have said it does remedy the problem but my wife gets a little upset if it is something she is listening to and I have to turn the tv off.
