Hi,

I bought a Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-DS3H (ATX version of the GA-MA78GM-S2H) and I'm getting continuous beeping when I power it up. According to the manual this means that the "graphics card is not inserted properly" which of course doesn't make sense since the board has onboard graphics. I've read through the manual several times and can't find any reference to jumpers etc required to enable the onboard graphics so at this point I'm thinking the board is faulty. I've tried it with both HDMI and vga with a monitor and my tv. Any one else have similar problems with this family of boards?

I suggest reseating your RAM and any expansion cards. Not sure what brand of bios that board has, but the beep codes are different for each bios brand.

I feel like a real dumbass now! Reseating the RAM was the first thing I tried, but obviously whatever I did wrong to start with I just repeated. Anyway it's working now.

No problem, when i built this computer 2 years ago i got a bit freaked out when i got a beep code which in the motherboard manual translated to Bad CPU or RAM. As you do, i expected the worst and thought my CPU was dead. Turns out one end of a ram stick had popped out.

Well, it fixed the problem temporarily. Now today it's making the "graphics card not inserted properly" beep. I've tried reseating the RAM again with no change. The board seems to be a bit flakey.

I wouldnt be so quick to write the motherboard off yet. Try changing the ram. Even try using a single stick if your running dual, then if that doesnt work, swap them over. Most problems I ve had like this have been ram related.
