Hello fellow HTPC enthusiasts
After 10 years of good service my old MediaPortal PVR with the EPG grabber and DVB-T card is just about EoL, as the underlying PC is on its last legs, and with DWTS hitting the airwaves soon I'm keen to avoid any issues and ensure my W and Kids AF remains at a tolerable level during this important period -perhaps even increasing AF with the complexity of swapping TV inputs eliminated :)
I have the excellent Vero4K+ Kodi media player and an accompanying NAS, and i'm wondering if anyone has had any experience joining NZ-Freeview + Freeview 7 day OTA EPG + Kodi + SiliconDust Connect DUO+ Kodi HDHomerun addon.
I only really record the crappy nz news in case something happens which isn't a cat stuck up a tree and DWTS (not for me i can assure you) and retain for until watched or 3 episodes. Right now i swap HDMI between Mediaportal PC and Vero inputs depending on whether i'm viewing media or viewing recorded TV - the appeal of having one media-player (Vero) on one HDMI input to rule them all is appealing......
I'm particularly interested in the following more technical matters:
- That the SiliconDust box can pull down our version of Freeview EPG and the Kodi HDhomerun addon can utilise to set scheduled recordings / select channel to view live tv from EPG or similar
- That a subscription to SiliconDust for access to EPG data - that possibly their box pulls down EPG from SiliconDust servers over the 'net rather than Freeview OTA EPG for which i've possibly paid tax dollars for :(
- That Kodi APIs to SiliconDust (or something in Kodi) might cause issues as something hasn't been updated, possibly related to Kodi V18 (OSMC are currently in v17 Kodi i think)
- I'm totally assuming that once i mount an NFS share from my NAS that i can record it it from Vero / Silicon Dust under instruction from Kodi - whatever the architecture is.......
Comments / suggestions very much appreciated, especially if anyone has this actual setup.
Cheers, Geoff.
