Bought new Samsung 40" LCD. Connected to sky decoder (2 years old) via AV. All channels good apart from TV1, TV2 Prime. The picture gets rain effect - freezes, big pixel blocks and sound is intermittent. Old non LCD TV was fine. Sky advised  that TVNZ signals are weak, however it doesn't explain why the old TV isn't affect while the new LCD is. Any help appreciated.

Sky CSR is talking cr@p, sounds like your dish/LNB needs alignment. When tuned to effected channels have a look at what the signal level meter says (and qualty meter) compared to good channels

its a LA40a330, not quite as flash as the LA40r81bx, but not complaining at $1300. Some other channels such as Disney and MTV were also playing up last night (all the other sky channels are good). I rebooted the deocoder and seemed to fix it for an hour and then these channels degraded again. As stated before, I have my CRT side by side with the LCD, and when switching back to CRT there is no problem with these channels. The decoder is set to 16:9 same as the LCD. The are no power cords across the RV connections. I will check the meterage as suggested and try sky technical again.

I'll second what the chief (cyril) says.  It sounds like an LNB / dish alignment problem.  It can't be anything else. everything is wrking perfect for me.  hd now for 7 days, no lockups, no rain fade, nothin but sexy pictures!!!!1 yeeeeyah. Contct sky nd kick up a fuss and they will send someone out pretty quick if you say you are not happy
