Right!
Finally got my decision down to a Panasonic 37" LCD. But is the 100hz worth it?

On the demo they show you can see the difference the 100hz makes, but then the non 100hz picture actually looked worse than the standard picture on the 50hz version.

Reading some international forums, some people seem to thing the 100hz ends up smearing pictures and they ended up turning it off.

So... Is it worth the extra $200 odd

Try it on a variety of sources - I have found that pal to ntsc conversions really bugger up the deinterlacer in my tv, so I always try to torrent brit shows in pal.

If its anything like pixel plus on interlaced cartoons you will want it off, but from what I have seen of them they looked ok.

Does anyone know if the doubling works on ntsc or 60Hz hd stuff so you get 120? I asked panasonic and they didnt know, it would seem stupid if it didnt, but then again, they made their CRTs only do flickery progresive when fed NTSC vs the 100hz on pal so who knows ;)

Hi gumboot,

With a $200 price difference I assume you are deciding between the TX37LX800 and the TX37LX80.

I am going through a similar 37” decision process and have almost decided on the Samsung LA37A550. Personally I have prioritised Full HD over 100 hz and that is why I am leaning towards the Samsung. If you compare current prices between the TX37LX800 ($1899) and the LA37A550 ($1999) there is only $100 difference (although I have been verbally quoted $1850 for the Samsung in a couple of stores).

The core difference between these two I can see is 100hz vs Full HD. I guess it comes down what you will use it mostly for. But what I have read I definitely think you should check out the Samsung.

Now if only they would bring out a built in free view tuner and LAN connectivity prior to Christmas…

Spec's, features, more spec's and even more features; makes your head spin. Hassle the store for a side by side comparison, visit friends with HDTV's and let your eyes be the judge.

What will be mainly using the TV for. General TV watching?, lots of sports watching? Movies and DVD's?. They all seem to have different needs. Just to add to the confusion my impression is that the quality of the signal, compression etc, seems to have the greatest impact.
