Dudes, can I use an HDMI Splitter to connect both my MYSKY and my PS3 to my tv at once? My TV only has one HDMI port. Which one should i get?

Nope, a splitter allows you to connect 2 monitors to a singal HDMI source,

Whar you want is an HDMI switch to choose between two or more inputs, (But be warned they are not cheap)

Sorry to go a little off topic, but does anyone know where I can get an optical Toslink switcher? I've seen a couple on Amazon but would perfer to buy from within NZ. My little HTiB only has one input and I'm not ready to upgrade it just yet.

Thanks

Hmm, found one on the Jaycar website. Guess I'll get that one.

I found a couple of HDMI switches too,

The first one is out of stock and the second one has 2 outputs. Only around $100 each, so hopefully that's within your budget.

Anyone used those passive hdmi splitters?

I'm looking to go from the one hdmi out of my receiver to a tv and a projector, though never at the same time.  Looks like these should work ok as long as I make sure they're both off before turning on the display I want to use?

cheers.

I brought of those, didn't work well, took it back and same result with the second one, the switch itself wouldn't lock onto the channels and would drop in and out. Ended up buying a powered AV control centre off Trademe for $50 or so and it works great.

If you are trying to connect HDMIHD video to 2 HDTV's and watch at same time, you should use a HDMI splitter or HDMI distribution Amp.

If you have multiple sources and need to connect to your HDTV with only 1 HDMI input, you neeed a HDMI switch.

PBTech www.pbtech.co.nz have a good one for a reasonable price.  Has 4 inputs plus 2 outputs so you can run a second screen in another room.
