Hi All,

I'm getting a really weird issue on my MCE Remote. Whenever I press a button, instead of the keypad lighting up and the LED at the top of the remote flashing green, nothing lights up except for the LED which flashes red. The IR Receiver flashes red for every two or three button presses on the remote, but the PC doesn't pick up any presses.

I can still get into programming mode, and I can still do a factory reset, but it doesn't help. I've tried changing batteries, leaving the batteries out for twelve hours (the lights flash red again as I'm putting the batteries back in, and the symptoms continue), and also shorting the terminals, and it's still doing the same thing! Even changing the USB port of the receiver doesn't help, though this was a wild shot as it seems like a remote issue.

A Google search wasn't really very helpful because whenever I searched 'red light' I got hundreds of troubleshooting pages stating that the IR receiver light must flash red.

Has anyone had this issue before? Did you manage to get it fixed?

Cheers,
Nik

sounds like a battery issue - did you change the batteries with new ones, or just other ones?

Yes, it does sound like old batteries to me as well.

Not brand new, but not very old either. I'll check back once I've tried some new out of the box.
