Hi all im new to this forum

I have my pc that i've currently got connected to my 32" sony bravia V-series full HD LCD via a dvi-a to vga cable.
My video card is a geforce 6600, what im wanting to know is will a dvi-d cable to HDMI display full hd video if i was to get a blu ray player for my pc?
Currently it is running at 32bit 1920X1080, will it look better again with a dvi-d to hdmi lead??

The dvi to hdmi dongle should work fine.

Yes it will definitely look better. But I'm a little concerned about the 6600, not sure if it can decode bluray?

A 6600 is pretty underpowered to be driving a full 1920x1080 display.

Either or works fine...

Are you able to view MKV, HD videos/trailers without stuttering? As sbiddle mentioned earlier you may be a tad underpowered. What kind of rig have you got setup btw?

I've gone for a DVI to HDMI cable, very good with my old X300 card and now waiting to build an HTPC. Got 2m off TradeMe for ~$12, and I chose one with RFI chokes (the bulges on the ends of the cable). Suggest you stay below 5m or you will probably get bit errors (unless you have an amplifier).

Yes AGP and i downloaded the speed video in 1080p from the m$ site and the CPU ran between 70-95% the majority of the time

IMHO that PC is just not going to be able to handle bluray. Bluray has higher requirements of the hardware then the videos that you are dealing with. If you want to check use Arcsoft's tool below but there minimum specs are well above what you have anyway.

ouch! doesn't sound like it's offloading to the GPU at all.
