Hi All,
My Samsung Plasma ( PS42C91HX ) decided to stop remembering the last channel it was on. Has been fine since new, just last weekend it stopped remembering.

I have it on HDMI 1 and turn it off, turn it on and it's on P1, every time now I have to manually select HDMI1.

HDMI source is switched on and running when I try this.

Any ideas how I can get it to remember again?

Samsungs input selection is a prick IMO, sometimes it skips over AV2 which has a VCR on it at mums, other times it will stop at it.

Inability to disable the internal tuner as an input is another suckky thing for them. If they are going to try to dynamically change the list based on what is plugged in, I would have thought antenna would be the least used one.

Good point on disabling the aerial/tv tuner input.

As an aside that kinda addresses your problem, invest in a harmony remote and then have this auto select the input required at the start of every activity. That puts the control back in your hands.

I havent tried the harmony on a samsung, but on my panasonics it does a convoluted string of button presses to change inputs. Do they do direct selection on the samsung?

Hey, I've got a Harmony remote, often I walk past the TV, hit the on button, then hit the couch, using the Harmony would slow things down! I do have HDMI1 on the first screen of the TV page on the Harmony, I know it is only an extra button push, just weird it stopped doing what it should.
Reckon I should call in the warranty and say it's faulty???

Over to you to decide if it's broken or not. Does the manual state anywhere that it should behave like you're experiencing or other?

If you have a harmony remote already, then just don't hit the on button on the way to the couch and that should solve your problem!? When you configure the activities, you select the inputs it requires so this just plain shouldn't be an issue.

Yes, on a samsung the inputs are directly addressed, so you don't have to go through a bunch of extra steps to know where you are etc. (well at least they are on my one).

Sorry, I know it may be different, but you've got the tools there to deal with it.

Well mums one often reverts to a tuner that has no antenna into it rather than hdmi 1 which really annoys her as she looks for the source button on the wrong remote. To me, defaulting to an input with nothing in it when it was left on another input is broken.

Well the TV has "fixed" itself. I haven't done a thing to it, but it now turns back on to HDMI1 at the previous volume. From being switched off at mains too. Cool!

1 problem that remains is that it when cycling through inputs it skips AV2 and goes to PC, I've never used the PC input and I can't get it to recognice AV2 even when laptop is plugged in and running.....

I use a Harmony 785 on our Samsung LCD (LA32S71B). The Samsung remote only has a single source input button, rather than individual buttons. Trying to get this to work (Method 1) with the Harmony was a pain, because it would cycle through the inputs, and sometimes I couldn't get it right. I found after reading the Harmony forum I found I could try Method 2 and even though our Samsung remote didn't have these buttons, the TV did understand them. It works great now. I had to ignore Method 3, even though it said it was for Samsung TVs.
