Hi,

I'm hoping for some info regarding using DVBLogic TVSource to get the sky EPG on my HTPC. I have 2 Hauppauge HVR 2200 hybrid tuners (giving me 4 terrestrial and 2 satellite tuners) on a WIN 7 x64 machine. I use Big Screen EPG with djkxml for my Sky/Freeview EPG. At present my Sky feed is from the sky decoder via s-video. If I split the sky aerial and connect to the satellite input of one of my Hauppauge cards, will I be able to use TVSource to scan for the Sky EPG, and use it with Media Centre? Any advice in this regard would be much appreciated.

Aren't HVR-2200 tuners DVB-T and analog only?

Yes you are right - sorry I've been lurking here for the last 3 months, and am having difficulty getting my head around the best option for getting a reliable Sky EPG. Would my original query work if I install a satellite card and TVSource, or would I need to go the Phoenix reader route a la http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=84&topicid=55472 ?

A DVB-S Tuner with TVSource and a Phoenix (Jaycar) reader is your best option. Not only would this give you direct access to the guide, it will also improve the picture quality dramatically.

You only need a DVB-S card and software to grab the EPG from the EIT tables for both Sky and Freeview.

If you also go down the path of buying a card reader to use with the DVB-S cards you can integrate Sky into MCE by tuning the channels directly and using the card for decoding.

Argo's guide is pretty good for pointers but since it was written the guys at DVBLogic have relesed DVBLink TV Source which eliminates the need for DVBViewer Pro and makes things quite a bit slicker. Have a look at tbergmans guide here http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?ForumId=84&TopicId=55472 for some newer tips though I haven't really followed it myself before and it does mention using a codec pack which you don't really need to do.

It really is the best way to go once you get it up and running.

I have just completed my Jaycar reader and would like feedback regarding the test voltages I'm measuring. In the following list the first figure is what Jaycars instructions say the voltage should be, followed by my measurements:

Between pins 7 & 14 on IC2 and IC3 - 5.0 (6.5)
Pin 2 of IC1 - >8.7 (12)
Pin 6 of IC1 - At least -7.8 (-11.5)
Cathode of D3 - >15.6 (22.1)
Cathode of ZD1 - 13 (17.2)

These measurements were taken with jumpers on 3.5795MHZ and Phoenix, switch in, powered by hard drive connector. No mods. Are these higher voltages likely to be a problem? (Would prefer not to cook my card)
