Hey Guys

First of all I'm new hear.

I was just thinking what would be better a ATI 5770 or a nvidia N260.
I want to be able to play games on high but dont mind much.

Also is there any other vidocard that will do and is cheap ($400-)

my PSU is a atx 2.2 520w watt

I recently custom-built my new gaming desktop on a SilverStone cube with a 5770. Runs fairly cool in a smaller casing and gaming performance is excellent.

You get the eye candy DX11 with the 5770 too. You tend to get better bang for your buck with ATi cards these days over nVidia.

There isn't anything worth getting at the $400 range only previous generation former high models that aren't DX11 or DX10.1 and/or lack other new features.

The Nvidia Geforce GTX 260 896MB is ~$290, has less video memory but isn't DX11 and doesn't have 1GB video memory.

Currently the ATI Radeon 5770 1GB is ~$260 and offers better bang for buck imo.

If you're willing to look at <$500 the Radeon 5850 becomes the strongest contender imo.

I have the HD5850, just moved on from a 9600GT passive. It's a little noisier, and im having some contrast issues with W7 MC, but in gaming and blu-ray playback it really shines, with some degree of futureproofing (although I've found this to be a relatively meaningless term in computer tech, my matrox mystique card was supposedly futureproofed)

I have a a Sapphire 5770 Vapor-x 1GB and its brilliant. I can play all current gen games (BC2, Just Cause 2) at 1900x1200 on full with 4x (or some times 8x) anti aliasing.

Frankly I think its a great card for ~300 and would whole heartedly reccomend it.

I don't think the price would go down anytime soon... until ATi releases a new generation of video cards.

Note: Personally I recommend you pay a couple of $ extra and not go for the cheaper seller from the link about. You are going to get miles better service/support from a seller that has a proven reputation, accepts CC and has a real physical store vs some guy running an etailer out of his mums garage and drop shipping product straight from the distributor.

The power supply requirements for a 5850 or 5870 are:

- 500 Watt or greater power supply
- Two 75W 6-pin PCI Express power connectors

I would check your psu to see if it has the 2x 6 pin connectors needed and also check the sticker on the side of the psu for the wattage ratings for the various rails/voltages.

Also check if your PSU is on the certified list

Whether you need additional case fans depends on what case you have and what fans you have already, probably don't need any extra in most cases.

on the boxs it says itsgot only 1 6pin pci-e connectors
also i only have 2 fans my psu one and cpu one

oh and my psu it a vantecl ion2 520w
