Panasonic Home Theater Sound System SC-HT995W & DMR-BW850 Blue Ray

Just a few quick questions. This all works in nicely together when watching TV and 2001 & stargate. But today I played the movie 2012. Now it played the Sony logo no swet, it played the alternative ending no swet, yet when playing the main feature itself I got no Audio coming through on the Home theatre. Why is this?? I had to resort to my TV's speakers.

Is there a reason for this an a work around. I got the Blue Ray in advance of AVATAR coming out. I want the full experience, not what I got with 2012.

Mods feel free to move to a more appropriate section, but hopefully someone will be able to explain my issues.

The sound system you have can't process HD sound, So you would need to use an optical or coaxial cable whichever the sound system has for audio input (as well as HDMI for picture), So you can at least get 5.1 sound through your soud system.

Cool Beans.

Oh also turn off HDMI audio on the blu-ray player, in HDMI settings if I remember rightly.

Cheers, I do have it running through the fibre optic cable from the blue ray to the home theatre, but I will do those other things you have suggested.

Update: I have swapped the fibre cable. I played blue ray disk of stargate and it all works perfectly, even the extras on 2012 work perfectly, just the main feature gives me no sound through the home theatre. Below are the specs for the model of panasonic hometheatre I am using.

Good news. I solved my problem. I had fibre optical leads in the correct place but I ran a red white from the blue ray into the TV. That gave me the audio, so I took the TV end and stuff it in the home theatre and all works well. Ran a second red white from my Saturn Cable and into the back of the TV and have audio from there. Plus I also plugged in my UHF aerial into the Blue Ray and I have digital HD TV as well. My saturn Cable TV on one slot and my free view HD in another. Everything is working with everything else. Also have my home theatre is a 5.1, I have un coupled the fibre optic and made it available to plug into my Xbox 360. So I have that now too!

All the leads are now all nice and tidy and the Man Cave is almost complete. Cheers for putting up with my enquiry and Thanks Bolly, you put me on the right path. You da man!!

If you are now getting sound from your Blu-Ray player via a pair of red/white cables, that can only be stereo rather than any form of multi-channel surround sound.
