Finally got a chance to document the last 3 months of work on getting Windows Media Center to work in my environment.  Feel free to have a look at www.hazen.co.nz  -- it's not a "how to" at this point -- just a summary of the main features and the add-ons I used to fill in the gaps.

The pages were intended to prove to a non-technical punter that I could set up a similar system for them, but the feedback thus far is that there isn't much money in that type of work, so I may convert it to a "how to" at some point n the future.

I'm fairly thick-skined so please feel free to pull it apart.

Thanks,

Looks like a good basic review. Maybe you could add a page on 3rd party apps?

Things like Mediacenter Studio (http://www.adventmediacenter.com/) for rearranging the menu, adding entry points and theming media center?

Epg software, internet radio, weather apps, macrotube (youtube integration), etc?

I know this can get complicated and where do you stop but could be something for the future?

Hi Asmodeus,

Thanks for taking a look and for the feedback -- your point is well taken, especially for the geekzone where most everyone knows most of this stuff anyway.

I've tried Mediacenter Studio a couple of times but have yet to get it to work properly.

I use Big Screen for EPG and I've got a "plan B" package if Big Screen falls over, but I must plead ignorance about the others you've mentioned - radio, weather, and you-tube apart from what the link to "Boxee" provides. If you've got any suggestions on these packages I'd be happy to check them out and include my findings in a future installment on how to set it all up (can't guarantee when that will be though).

Once it becomes clear that I won't make any money as a WMC installer, I'll put some effort into building a "how to"

Thanks again for the feedback,

- Deck
