Hi there, I am a new poster to this site but a regular visitor.? I have read about how to send a signal through to another tv and have followed one that uses an old vcr.? I used the scart from vcr on mysky box to av in (on vcr) the av ports on the vcr only have one audio (the white one instead of white and red). My problem is I have no sound on the other tv, the picture is perfect but all i get is loud hissing noise.? I fine tuned and found some sound but that was when the picture was gone! Please help!

Sounds like your TV may be on the wrong system
ie the sound spacing is wrong.
Before you go there , check the Scart cable is seated properly,
if ok disconnect the audio from the VCR input and use an
RCA cable from the red/white port of the Sky to the VCR i/p.
This will check the Scart cable

Yes the scart was ok and I tried the rca cables, just the white and yellow because the vcr only has one audio output (tried red/yellow too) same thing, perfect picture, no sound with picture. What does 'wrong system' mean? My other tv is just a el-cheapo bedroom tv (cobolt). Thanks for the quick reply.

Your VCR is modulating the AV signal for the TV and the TV is receiving it like any other TV signal,

Different countries have different spacing between the Video and Audio carriers, your TV may be set to a different system compared with the output from the VCR.

They should be both set to PAL B/G

My old toshiba VHS had an option to choose system in the setup menu, what you are describing is what you will get if you have it set to PAL I which is the other audio offset used in the UK, or else the TV is set to I and the VHS is set to G.

I tried changing audio settings but still nothing.  The weird thing is channel 1, 2 and 3 all work fine through the vhs but L-1 is the problem

That throws a whole new light on things, and tends to indicate that the fault may be in the sound input on the VCR)
