Resurrecting an old issue: I have a Samsung TV and MCPC with a Hauppauge WinTV Nova-S reciever and remote.

Many of the Samsung remote functions result in the Hauppauge MCPC combo behaving erratically - flicking through menu options, channels etc. Even switching the TV on can result in some startling MCPC activity. Makes life interesting if nothing else.

In an older thread, replacing the Hauppauge remote with a Microsoft unit was the solution proposed for this issue. However the MS remote is no longer available. Has anyone had successful outcomes with Samsung TVs and any of the readily available remotes and receivers? There are a number on TM ranging from about $15 -$55.00.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have a Samsung Series 5 37" LCD and I use a Philips Media Center remote with no problems.

Had  the same problem, only way I was able to solve it was to tell my harmony remote that I was using an MCE remote and not a hauppauge one.  This for me was simple as I wasn't using the Hauppaue remote receiver to receive the IR commands.

You may have to look at seeing if you can get your hands in an MCE remote or somesuch.
