Hi Team,

I just got the new XBOX 360 model. I also have the older model which is currently connected via HDMI cable to my Konka 42" LCD (don't laught, was on a tight budget) which works really well. However, when I connect the HDMI cable to the new xbox and turn it on, I get "not supported" on the LCD. What gives? It works on the older XBOX 360 via HDMI, why not the new one?

Cheers.

What resolution does your TV support? Perhaps the new Xbox is displaying HD out of the box and the TV doesn't support it?

I am guessing that it is trying to output full 1080P and the TV does not support that resolution?
Temporary connect it via composite or whatever you have other then HDMI. Go in and set the HDMI output to something your TV can handle.

Thanks for your quick replies.
My old model XBOX 360 is using HDMI and is outputting full HD @ 1080p.... That's one of the main reasons I brought the LCD as it supports the full 1080p res.
Would it be the cable? Has the version of HDMI changed? It was ver 1.3 or something....

No I would be almost certain it is not the cable as the the TV is getting a signal it is just not one it can display. If it is not resolution that I would say it will be refresh rate.

Have you got a different means of attaching the video so you can check out the options for HDMI? I think the TV may be giving the xbox incorrect information about what it can display.

I've got a ViewSonic 32" LCD/TV with an HDMI input which I'll try and connect the new xbox to. I'll see what it does. Can I change the xbox refresh rate?

^ Or perhaps MS has implimented HDCP on the new units?
Have any other HDCP compliant devices you can test with? Being a Konka I wouldn't be surprised if it was non-compliant.

The reason is that the xbox uses a version of HDMI that is above what the Konka TV is made to run

PC: 3.3ghz Core i5-2500, 8gb DDR3, ATI Radeon 5850, 27" QHD IPS Monitor

Mobile Phone: iPhone 5 32gb Graphite.

So how do I get around that? Surely there must be other people in my situation...

Sorry can you say why you think the Slim has a different version of HDMI and if it is (which I cannot see anything to say it is) why that would cause this problem seeming as HDMI is fully backwards compatible?

Edit sorry should have said HDMI versions are fully backwards compatible.

It might be this (HDMI Colour Space setting).

Thanks for all your help. Have resolved issue.

Connected the new xbox 360 to my ViewSonic LCD/TV via HDMI. It worked fine. Went to system settings, display and changed the HDTV settings to 720p.
Reconnected the new xbox 360 to my Konka 42" via HDMI and power up...all good! Changed the HDTV settings to 1080p and it all works fine.

Cheers.

Yeah the konkas sometimes don't like certain resolutions or refresh rates, I've never been able to make the one in my store work with 24hz.

Glad you got it sorted. Never good when you buy a new toy and can't play with it ;-)
