Hi

I have a trouble to pointing  a dish to Asiasat4.

I have 100CM dish, need to point  Asiasat 4.
I am not getting any channel.
I can do  it for D1 and D2.

 Living in wellington.

Ithinl the direction is 297, elevation 18.

I  allign it to the direction, and turn  left and right and up/down to detect any signal,

 Still I am strugling.

Much appreciat if you can give me any clues to focus it

Mahinda

Direction is 274.9 degrees, elevation is 19.

It looks like your dish might be slightly too small. It might be large enough in good weather if your LNB, cable and receiver are good quality, but a weak quality LNB, cable and receiver may not be good enough.

I'll mention that Lyngsat says the Indian channels on the Ku band beam from that satellite are encrypted. Are you subscribing to pay TV?

My dish is 110 cm,  I belive it is good quality dish and LNB.
I bought it from supplier  and requested  good one for asiasat 4.

I  have done it for  D2, but cannot get  AS4.
I tried 274   from magnatic direction,
still get nothing.
I have good clearence   on my roof top.

 I am subscribing  to channels.
If I can get somthing  on this AS4, that is fine, then I know I am  on right direction.

I am going to try today again,
I have  meter, if I type freq, and SR, I can get the signal and quality.
But  now It shows  around 74DBm  signal  and 0 quality.

Any clues , many thanks.

have you tried finding it using a sat finder?

I know it is a bit lower on the horizon than Optus sats, is it possible an object is blocking it?

so you've tuned the STB to a transponder like 12430V??

I don't know otherwise. My 90cm isn't good enough to lock it properly, plus there's houses in the way.

Ring a pro with a proper satellite meter.

Like I said, I haven't got AS4 locked in, my dish is too small. I have a chinese LNB of some sort from Stewarts Electrical wholesalers.  If it works for one satellite, it should work for all.

I think if you haven't locked it in by now, then take the suggestion above :)
