Hi

I recently purchased a new house and in the formal lounge there was a wall bracket that didnt have the screws for mounting the brackets to the TV

So i brought a new wall bracket and ended up just using the screws from that.

However now I would like to utilise the wall bracket I purchased to hang a TV in our bedroom - but the screws I used for the formal lounge TV are the same I require for the bedroom TV

They are both Panasonic TVs - I have read they use M8 screws

Question:
Does anyone know where these can be purchased - or does someone who has mounted their TV have these spare that I could buy off you?

You can buy M8 screws at most hardware stores eg Bunnnings, Mitre 10 etc.

I did try mitre 10 mega last weekend when we set up the formal lounge TV - they didnt have the correct ones - maybe I will give bunnings a try

Kind of was hoping that some electronics store would have them - so I know I am getting the right ones

This is a situation where you want to avoid the main retail stores as they really dont have the specialised hear you need.
What you need is an engendering supplies store. They will have a whole wall dedicated to what you need and it wont cost much either.

As above you need a fasteners supplier. Take in what you need and they will almost certainly have them.

Where are you? If in Auckland I'd recommend the Bolt Shop in Glenfield - very helpful people, just rock up with a description of what you need (and maybe the bracket) and they should be able to help.

The bracket won't help them... They'll want to know about the holes in the back of your new TV. oh yeah, make sure you don't go too short.

Sorry replied on a phone and predictive text made the word hear instead of gear.....

Your manual may show what type of bolts you require to connect to the back of your TV. I used a few spare I had laying around that were way too long, just to get a fit. Then find a nut that fits that and you can take that nut to the shop to make sure you get the right thread.

It can be scary if you're not used to the range of threads/types of high tensile bolts etc that exist in the world. That's where the likes of Mega/Dick Smith etc shield you from what's really available.

Seriously you'd expect to pay like 50c each max for what you need.

As an aside I use tek screws, coach bolts or dynabolts etc depending on what surface/structure you are screwing the wall mount onto. There's quite a bit more to it than a lot of people realised, including power and cabling to the new position etc.

Take one of the bolts out of your existing TV and take that to a specialist fastening shop.

It'll take them about 15 seconds to work out what you need and then probably a minute or two to go and get some.

If you're worried about the TV falling off the bracket then take out all 4 temporarily.

I take it these are the bolts to attach the TV to the bracket (bot the bracket to the wall).

Most brackets come with lots of them (different lengths and diameters). I your new bracket did, find one that is the correct diameter for your TV (not all TVs are the same) and take it to a fasteners store and get them to find some the correct length for you. You don't want them too short (for obvious reasons) or too long incase they crunch the rear of your panel if you screw them in too far,

Bunnings and mitre10 are useless for fastners, all they have is those stupid packages of like 6 screws, and 90% of them are inch sizes with the metric being the odd ones out. No stainless metric, no metric cheese heads, no metric countersunk heads, no metric locknuts etc.

If you are happy to use an obsolete standard for screws they have heaps of overpriced packs of 3/16" whatevers etc.

The bolt shop is a #win for fasteners IME. Everything I needed including some pretty bizzare M6 large countersunk hex drive ones.
