I'm James, proprietor of a small boutique-accommodation business in Nelson.

I was in the computer industry for 17 years, primarily in IBM SNA (mainframe/terminals networking) then x.25, frame-relay, etc.  Was known as the Cisco kid for a while (cringe).  Gave it all up as a bad joke, did a little PC networking (worse joke) after moving from Auckland to Nelson.

Implementing a WIFI network here @ the lodge meant I had to start taking file-access security more seriously so I installed MS Small Business Server (on an old Tosh notebook!).  Also have an independent media machine, a fantastic Asus R1F tablet (or convertible as it should be know) for myself & 3 OLD notebooks for joint admin & guest use.

My network is cobbled together from scrounged & gifted hardware in the great "#8 fencing-wire" kiwi tradition: hence my profile name.

I've found GZ invaluable in the past & know that I shall continue to do so.

PS was greatly inconvenienced by Xtra hiding that they were throttling streaming traffic on my Go Large plan.  The refund of a few months charges don't compensate for my wasted time & concern.  What really makes me mad is how they tried to fob me off with time-wasting & meaningless tests based on their continued assertions that my tail-circuit was the problem.
