I think the first time I used this forum I came back in NZ for a short period of time, but this time I will be coming back permanently in June.  Why you may ask am I moving back when so many are going the other way?  Australia is a nice and beautiful place but NZ is home for me, I'm a Kiwi.

Australia has its positives: Sunshine and money are the biggest reasons why I like it over here.  But NZ has more I think: More beautiful places, nicer people and you don't have to live in air-con in summer lol.  Sure all places have their drawbacks and I'm thinking NZ has less.  NZ to me seems more relaxed or laid back if you will.

I have been in Australia for 12 years - wife is Australian and have been working in IT for pretty much that entire time.  I'm currently a Technical Consultant/System Engineer in Brisbane and was hoping to get the same sort of work in Auckland (city) or North Shore. I will be living north of Wellsford so it will be a long commute, but I commute for 3 hours already a day to Brisbane so its not a huge issue.  I don't have a formal degree just the following certifications:

CCNP-Route
JNCIA
VCP5
MCSA 2K8
MCP Exch2010
Citrix CCA (6.5)

My current role is a 'Jack of All Trades' and I'm looking for System/Infrastructure Engineering roles to match my skillset.

Who are the best IT recruiters in Auckland?  Is it going to be hard for me to find work?  I am currently on AU$80K+ and was looking for a salary or contract around the same level.

Hit up Datacom in Auckland, I work for them in CHCH and I know that if you were moving to CHCH they are the skills that have been sought after in the past

Welcome! Seems a good time to come back, the outward flow is reversing and the economy is apparently picking up.

I think you are right.  Its meant to be a good year for NZ this year! Hopefully that translates into wages! Australia really is dependent solely on the mining boom which is starting to slow a little.  They have invested very little in Infrastructure if any.
